Our Answers

Is Medicare, Medicaid or any other government funding available for these services?
These funding sources could be available based on your individual situation, income and status. Remember, as with all government funding, there are rules and restrictions that you must adhere to. There may also be limitations to the funding amount and the types of services offered.

I have insurance and I'm not sure if it covers home care/home health care services. Will Synergy HomeCare verify coverage prior to starting service?
Yes. Synergy HomeCare is very comfortable in dealing with insurance companies. We will check your coverage and let you know the results.

What different services do you offer?
Synergy HomeCare has a number of services designed to meet your specific needs. We are proud to offer companionship, homemaking and personal care non-medical home care services.

Can you do short term care?
Yes. We never require you to "need" care for any specific amount of time—part of our no contracts, just care philosophy. Your local office can work with you to create a plan of care specific to your individual needs.

Can your service care for a client in a facility (hospital, nursing home, or assisted living)?
Yes. We can provide services to care facility residents who desire one-to-one companionship and personal care.

What if the client has to go into a facility?
Our services will be temporarily ‘put on hold’ until the client returns home.
Do I have to sign a contract?
Synergy HomeCare is here to meet your needs, and as needs change, so does your service. Therefore, we do not enter into contracts with our clients, but simply have a financial agreement stating our rates, terms and conditions for payment.

How often do I get billed for services?
Billing is done on a weekly basis.

What does my fee cover?
The fee covers your caregiver's wages and all wage taxes.

Is there any additional cost to me?
No, the fee is inclusive. The only additional cost that might occur is mileage when you ask your caregiver to run errands in their vehicle.

Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes. Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover® cards are all accepted.

What if I need to speak to someone in the office after business hours?
Synergy HomeCare's office staff is available to help deal with your inquiries and problems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When the office is closed, there is a duty on-call person available to help you.

Why would I hire a Synergy HomeCare caregiver versus a private caregiver?
Synergy HomeCare would recommend that you do not hire privately unless you are prepared to be an employer of caregivers. The following are just a few of the things you must take into consideration when hiring privately.
  • Once you hire a caregiver privately, you are responsible for all state and federal payroll taxes.
  • You must obtain Workers Compensation Insurance or make sure your private caregiver comes with insurance. If not, you could be responsible for any injuries claimed to have happened while working at your home. How will you pay for any claims of disability if they are filed against you?
  • What happens if the private person doesn’t show up for work? Are you prepared to stay home and take care of your loved one? Or if the care is for you, are you prepared to be left alone without care if the caregiver does not show up?
  • Is the private caregiver bonded against theft?
  • Who will supervise him/her?
There are too many questions and problems when hiring privately. We do not recommend this option at all.

What should I be looking for in a home care/home health care agency that would indicate superior or high-quality services for my loved one?
The best in-home care companies provide immediate response to your home care needs.
  • They should have someone available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • They should guarantee that services will always be provided.
  • Their employees should be bonded against theft.
  • The attendants should be company employees. They should screen their employees and have criminal background checks run on each of them.
  • No one should ever show up at your home without an introduction.
  • They should provide periodic visits to your home in order to check on their employee and to make sure that you are happy with the services

How long will it take to get a caregiver?
Our staff will start recruiting efforts on your behalf as soon as you are set up as a client. We may make a referral immediately or it may take up to 3-5 business days. Our goal is to refer dependable caregivers that will satisfy you and your needs. You can be assured that our staff will be working diligently on your behalf.

Can I interview the caregivers first?
Synergy HomeCare is responsible for screening, hiring, managing and scheduling the caregivers and we have many years experience in this area. Our initial evaluation with the client and family will help to develop a profile of the type of caregiver the client needs and wants. If a client wants to change caregivers for any reason, we will do so at no charge as many times as necessary until the client is completely satisfied.

What happens if my caregiver is sick?
That's why we employ a caregiver team approach. If one caregiver is sick, another is normally available.

Can I help choose the caregiver and/or meet them in advance?
Yes, our clients can help select their caregiver, and we discuss the selection process during our in-home visit.

How do you select your caregiver?
All of our caregivers have successfully completed a thorough reference and criminal background check. Each caregiver is also bonded and insured.
