Owners John Finn and Joel Lucchese, friends of twenty-three years, had been talking forever about “what to do after Wall Street.” With a combined forty-five years working on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, they embarked on their new endeavor opening New Jersey’s first Synergy HomeCare office.
From day one working on the NYSE, one phrase is pounded into your head “your word is your bond.” We now live this credo everyday at Synergy HomeCare of New Jersey, along with a few others such as “do what you say when you say you’re gonna do it and if something goes wrong, take ownership and make it right.” We believe this is what has allowed us to build the absolute best home care service in Monmouth,Ocean and Middlesex counties.
Our Synergy office was born out of a desire to be in control of our own destiny while still doing something worthwhile and being able to give back to our community. Home care is something close to our hearts having cared for grandparents and a terminally ill father. With these experiences, we know first hand the physical and emotional load family members have to bear.
John was working on Wall Street when his grandfather became terminally ill. Juggling the demands of work and coming home to care for Pop was physically and mentally draining. “You want to be superman, but sometimes you just can’t do it all alone.” Experiences like this made home care a natural fit. The fact that we’ve been there helps us relate to our clients. I vividly remember putting in hectic days on the floor, racing home to care for Pop, going to bed and getting up several times a night. Even with help from Hospice you only have so many weeks or months in you before becoming overwhelmed.
One of our greatest rewards as owners is to go on a home assessment to meet a prospective client. It is normal to see a look of apprehension but we know we can reassure our client and their family because we understand their feelings first hand. Now, with so much experience in home care and because our caregiver team is so good, we can answer any question and put everyone at ease because we can describe clearly what to expect and what will happen. We explain that you will quickly get to know and trust your caregiver and that sooner than you thought, you will be feeling and seeing the relief and improvement you are hoping for; all the while, it is still you who stays in control. We always let you know you’re still the “boss” and we’re here to do whatever it is that you want.
