Detailed List of Services

Listed below is a complete* list of all of the home care services offered by Synergy HomeCare. Each item is accompanied by a short description of how that service is rendered by one of our caregivers.

Companionship Services

Home care companions are caregivers who receive a unique opportunity to be a lifeline and a friend to those that are homebound, or just need a little help around their home. Having a companion in your home allows you to maintain the lifestyle you have become accustomed to and maintain a general independence that you would be otherwise be unable to.
Conversation and Companionship
Whether it is conversation and company, playing cards, reading to each other, or just eating a meal together, having someone to sit by your side and visit with can help make for a happier, healthier life.

Family caregiving relief (respite care)
Otherwise known as “respite care”, our caregivers can provide a break for family members who are taking care of their loved ones. If you need to run errands, go shopping or get some much needed rest, our caregivers can give you some downtime.

Arrange appointments
Coordinating medical and other needed appointments can be time consuming, not to mention tricky, for seniors and busy moms with ill children. Our caregiving staff can arrange and track these appointments for you.

Medication reminders
While our caregivers cannot administer medications (or provide “home health care” as it is traditionally known), they can be an “alarm clock” for you or your loved one to take medications at the right time.

Help with morning wake-up
If you or your loved one needs help getting up and around in the morning, our caregivers can help with getting out of bed, getting dressed, and get breakfast going.

Bedtime assistance
Just like the morning wake-up, our caregivers can provide specialized turndown assistance. They can get the bed ready, help with getting into bed, tucking in, making sure the room is at the right temperature, making sure there is an ample amount of fluids by the night stand, and can even get that little mint onto the pillow.

Prepare grocery list
Caregivers not only prepare nutritious meals, they help prepare grocery lists as well. This includes clipping coupons, shopping through the grocery advertisements for the best deals, checking on the food supplies in the home, and disposing of old or spoiled food. Our caregivers can even do the shopping for you!

Monitor diet and eating
Some studies show that more than half of seniors living at home are either undernourished or malnourished. Causes vary from getting too little food to not eating the proper nutrients or to food not absorbing into the body to depression. Our caregivers can help prevent this extremely dangerous problem by monitoring their food and fluid intake, helping to or preparing nutritious meals, or even helping those that have a hard time feeding themselves.

Plan activities
Everyone has a hobby they love, activity they enjoy, or an important routine they must follow. Caregivers can help by planning and assisting with these activities so you or your loved one can maintain independence, keep their minds active, and have a little fun! Caregivers can arrange for friend and family visits, play dates for the kids, trips to the zoo, shopping outings, crafting and scrap booking activities, even help plan their client’s next vacation!

Care for houseplants
Many seniors experience depression, helplessness and boredom. Houseplants can help create a lush and loving habitat right at home. Our caregivers can help you or your loved one nurture and care for plants; studies have shown that plants help to decrease depression while increasing appetite and an “overall happy quotient.”

Improve T.V. usage
Our caregivers can encourage meaningful television shows to sharpen and educate the mind. For those beginning to experience memory loss or dementia, trivia and puzzle game shows can help keep the mind active. For our younger clients, educational programming will be encouraged.

Report any change in condition
One of the main reasons for having a caregiver in the home is to make sure that the person that they are taking care of is safe and secure. Synergy HomeCare trains their caregivers to watch for and act quickly on what is called a “change in condition”, which means anything that appears out of the ordinary for that particular person. You can rest assured that these changes WILL NOT be ignored or brushed under a rug and that the appropriate person will be notified.

Maintain a safe environment
Safety is a number one concern for both our clients and our caregivers. One main mission for the caregivers is to ensure that the home is safe for their clients and for anyone else who enters it. They can clear walkways and pathways, move cording, check electrical cords and wires, and observe for other safety hazards.

Receive and organize bills/letters
If you or your loved one is having problems remembering to pay the bills, our caregivers can receive and organize the mail so important bills and letters can be taken care of. They will even walk them to the mailbox for you!
Homemaking Services

Homemaker services are an extremely valuable service that our caregivers provide. Cleaning and maintaining their “castle” helps promote a sense of accomplishment and pride—not to mention the fact that a clean home is a healthy home.
Light housekeeping
Our caregivers can handle the upkeep of the home for our clients! Let us clean the kitchen sink, appliances, counter tops, and cupboards; let us clean the bathroom showers, tubs, and toilets; we can vacuum the floor, dust the shelves, empty the trash, make the beds and straighten the rooms; we even do windows!

Kitchen maintenance
A clean kitchen is a healthy kitchen. Bacteria found in raw foods (salmonella, e-coli) can run rampant in a dirty or unsanitized kitchen. Our caregivers can ensure the counter tops, dishes, pots and pants, floors, and cooking appliances are all clean and safe.

Laundry and ironing
Doing the laundry and ironing can be all day events; our caregivers will wash, dry, fold, iron, and put away the clothing so you do not have to!

Change linens
There is virtually nothing better than getting into fresh, clean sheets. Especially for the ill or bed bound, putting clean linens on the bed can ensure comfort and reduce the chances of developing bedsores.

Grocery shopping
Grocery shopping services are important for a few reasons. One is that it can be a long and strenuous process—from getting in and out of the car to pushing the cart around. Another is that it helps ensure that the proper nutritious foods are being purchased for nutritional purposes. In any case, it is just one more caregiving service we provide.

Errand services
No matter the age, things away from the home simply need to be done. Our caregivers can pick up prescriptions, run out to the store, pick up dry cleaning, go to the beauty salon, and anything else that their client requires.

Meal preparation and clean up
Many seniors do not have the opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal. Let our caregiver prepare a hot, delicious, nutritious meal. This service gives our clients the opportunity to eat the nutritious meals they need to enjoy healthier living.

Bathroom maintenance
Along with the kitchen, the cleanliness of a bathroom is essential to the health of the person(s) using it. Caregivers can clean the tub, sink, shower, and sanitize the toilet for optimum health benefits.
Personal Care Services*

Personal care services are some of the most important home health tasks our caregivers are prepared to perform—and of course, will perform with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.
Personal hygiene assistance
One’s personal hygiene is not only important to their comfort, it is important to their help. The caregiving team at Synergy HomeCare is specially trained in conducting routine personal hygiene including teeth and denture care and bathing assistance.

Routine transfer assistance
When someone is unable to get around on their own, our caregivers are able to help them move from the bed to a chair and vice versa. They are specially trained in proper body mechanics to avoid injury to their clients, as well as trained in using a Hoyer lift and a Gait belt.

Bed positioning
Placing a person into a correct posture position is essential to keep the body’s many systems functional. It helps to eliminate pressure on bony areas and joints, which can cause bedsores. Caregivers are specially trained to not only position bed-bound clients correctly, but to watch for pressure sores and other issues they can usually face.

Assist with light exercise
No matter the age, staying physically active is an important part of staying healthy. From taking walks, gardening, swimming, and dancing, our caregivers can incorporate these exercises into their daily visits.

Alzheimer's and Dementia care
Our caregivers are more than willing and able to work with those with Alzheimer’s disease or any other dimentia. From providing hospice relief care, respite care, or full-fledged assistance, we will be there.

Help with restroom use
Assistance with using the bathroom is a highly personal and sensitive need that affects many seniors and small or disabled children. It is a service that our caregivers provide with the utmost sensitivity and care. They are trained to assist with all toileting needs from minimal assistance to full assistance including incontinence care.

Transportation
Whether it’s a hospital pickup, visiting a friend, a shopping trip, or a regular doctor’s appointment, our caregivers can provide the transportation needed to complete these tasks, therefore allowing those in need to retain their independence.

Bathing and showering
Bathing is essential to an individual’s sense of well being. It refreshes the spirit and provides relaxation while cleansing the skin and stimulating circulation. Our caregivers can do whatever is needed to provide this necessary home health related service. Whether it is preparing the room for a bath, assisting with the transfer into the tub, staying nearby in case of an emergency, helping with a partial bath, or providing a full bed bath—our caregivers are trained and sensitive to this need.

Assistance with dressing
Those that have had debilitating illnesses, surgeries, or permanent movement problems may have problems doing an essential daily task—getting dressed. Our caregivers can help you or your loved one get dressed while in or out of bed.

Hair care
Shampooing and styling one’s hair can make a person feel and look good. Our caregivers can help their clients shampoo their hair in a bath, shower, or sink—and also help dry and style it to their preference.
