Healthy Brain Foods

Keeping your brain on top of its game and healthy is important for aging adults. While at-home senior care can help with incorporating the right foods into you or your loved one’s diet, it’s good to know what foods will benefit the brain.

Cranberries

Cranberries are a good source of antioxidants that can help maintain cognitive functioning. Grapes are also a good idea because they have exceptionally beneficial effects on circulation. Circulatory problems contributing to dementia can be prevented because grapes keep blood vessels healthy by raising good cholesterol (HDL) and lowering bad cholesterol (LDL).

Oats

Add oats to you or your loved one’s diet because they supply energy to the brain. This extra boost can improve learning because oats are rich in selenium, an antioxidant that’s shown to have protective effects in brain disorders as well as age-related cognitive problems.

Vitamin E

For a good source of vitamin E, eat almonds. With one of the most concentrated sources of the vitamin, a high daily dose can delay the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Brown rice has vitamin B and can help produce energy for brain cells, it also has niacin, thiamin and inositol.
