September is World Alzheimer's Month, and Synergy HomeCare of Inland Empire strives to dedicate its time and resources to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.

Synergy, along with local senior care companies Valencia Terrace, Emeritus Senior Living, and Vista Cove Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, will host a local charity event aimed at raising funds in the fight against Alzheimer's.

In order to raise money for the event, Synergy, Valencia Terrace, Emeritus Senior Living, and Vista Cove will co-host a fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Miguel's at the Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, 5.4 million Americans live with Alzheimer's disease.   Alzheimer's "is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.   More than 15 million Americans provide unpaid care valued at $210 billion for persons with Alzheimer's and other dementias."

Ten Early Signs and Symptoms of Alzheimer's

1.     Memory loss that disrupts daily life

2.     Challenges in planning or solving problems

3.     Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work, or at leisure

4.     Confusion with time or place

7.     Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps

8.     Decreased or poor judgment

The goal of the Alzheimer's Association is to "eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health."   Help Synergy HomeCare of Inland SW and other care companies support the Alzheimer's Association.
