This is a great article on the benefits of companion care:
It specifically addresses some of the myths surrounding companion care - seniors will often reject it as if they are being accused of being invalids. I always explain to my clients that getting a little help in the home does not take away their independence - it actually helps them remain indepedent in their own home by having someone help them with the little things that are difficult for them. Sometimes that's all they need - the biggest requests are laundry, changing linens, driving, and meal preparation. A caregiver can offer this type of companionship.
