Have You Heard About 70 Strong for Older Adults?

IMG_7749 Resized

Older adults, ages 70 and up, have a free handy new resource to discover and learn about free and low-cost activities and services throughout the community.

Billed as the first comprehensive guide for older adults in central and southern San Mateo County, 70 Strong lists free and low-cost activities and services including enrichment classes from book clubs to language instruction; social groups including dance clubs, pickleball, tai chi, yoga and pick-up softball games; volunteer opportunities; support groups; hospitals; community clinics; transportation (including Lyft rides); food services; and housing.

“We live in a community with great social services, but many people don’t know where they are,” says Heather Cleary, executive director of Peninsula Family Service, which is managing 70 Strong in a partnership with Sequoia Healthcare District.

Older adults, seniors, caregivers, family, friends and neighbors can discover the resources in several ways:

  • Online at 70Strong.org,
  • On the phone with a Community Navigator (650.780.7547), or
  • In person via a home visit for residents of the Sequoia Healthcare District (Atherton, Belmont, Portola Valley, Redwood City, Redwood Shores, San Carlos, Woodside, and parts of Foster City, Menlo Park and San Mateo).

Check it out. We were glad to attend the launch party.
