Great news for many of our clients, fellow Coloradans, and the millions dealing with Alzheimer’s disease! Last month President Obama signed a funding bill into law that gives Alzheimer’s research a $122 million increase. It is a huge win that there is national recognition and funding support to help research that can slow and ultimately prevent the disease.
This touches me as I work with our clients at SYNERGY HomeCare who are in the beginning stages of the disease, or have battled with it for years. It’s much more than a news report when you know and love actual people and families that can benefit from this bill. I have personally witnessed the devastation of this disease with my recently deceased mother; and because we are living longer, the potential of a disease in epidemic proportions could be on the horizon without treatment.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association there are currently more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s.
