Stroke Home Care by SYNERGY HomeCare of South Denver

After a stroke, many patients begin recovering with rehabilitation to help them gain back their independence. Many families will turn to senior care services to help their loved one improve their physical, mental and emotional functions - all of which are affected by a stroke.

One of the biggest components to rehabilitation is learning as much as possible about strokes and recovery.

A doctor may prescribe several types of therapy to help your loved one regain independence and basic skills. These include therapy for communication disorders, motor skills, mobility, range of motion, psychological and constraint-induced.

Many people who suffer from a stroke find that they have difficulty speaking after the event. As a result, therapy may help to regain the ability to speak, listen and write. Exercises may be added to a daily therapy regimen to help improve muscle strength and coordination.

If your loved one will now need help getting around, mobility training incorporating the use of a walker or cane may be beneficial to helping them recover.

Due to the effect a stroke can have on cognitive skills, a physician may request a psychological evaluation to determine if medication is needed for mood support. Constraint-induced therapy is also know as forced-use and will require an individual to restrict the use of an unaffected limb in order to rebuild strength in the body parts that were affected by a stroke.

SYNERGY HomeCare of South Denver can help you or your loved one recover and cope following a stroke.  Please contact us to learn more or for a free consultation.
