When does home care services generally show up for you? If you are an aging senior who relies on an in-home care provider for assistance with various issues around the house, there might be a specific time that they show up on their scheduled days.
This could be in the late afternoon and into the evening hours. It might be early afternoon. And it may also be in the morning.
If you have a caregiver coming to your home during the morning or very early afternoon hours, you may suggest that one day you spend getting breakfast at a diner or other eating establishment.
National Waffle Week is September 5 through the 11th and for anybody who enjoys waffles, they are a great meal for breakfast.
The Nutritional Value of Waffles
Just because a recommendation is made to have breakfast out with an in-home care provider, that doesn’t mean that there is going to be any real nutritional value with it. A person who relies on home care services, especially an elderly individual, will have a variety of challenges and may even be facing some health issues.
That doesn’t mean he or she has to stop living. One thing that many elderly individuals miss out on as they get older is doing some of the things they used to enjoy when they were younger. This could include spending a morning out of the house getting breakfast somewhere other than the kitchen.
How to Make this Outing even more Special
If you are an in-home care provider and believe that a breakfast out with the elderly patient would be a good idea, there are several ways that you can make this event even more special. The patient may not be interested in waffles, so don’t try to push that on them even though it’s National Waffle Week. They can certainly have anything they want.
If the patient has family in the area, contact them and see if they would be able or willing to meet up for breakfast with their loved one. You can keep this information from the patient so that it is a pleasant surprise if their family can meet them for breakfast.
This is also an idea that can be carried through to other weeks throughout the year. You don’t even need a reason to go out and do something different and special with the elderly patient. Just because somebody requires home care services, that doesn’t mean they have to remain at home day in and day out.
