My in-laws are in their 80s. My mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and at just about the time my father-in-law, who has Parkinson’s, broke his hip and had to have hip replacement surgery. We realized it was time to find home health care for both of them, but we had some very specific requirements. They needed a live-in who spoke Spanish, and who could handle both my father-in-law’s physical limitations and my mother-in-law’s cognitive and emotional ups and down. We worked with a lot of agencies before finding a wonderful aide for the weekdays, but after weeks of trying we were still unable to find the right person for weekend help. That’s when I found Synergy. I got in touch with Kevin and he immediately offered to come to my in-laws’ house and assess their needs. He was extremely compassionate and professional, and I particularly appreciated how discreet and respectful he was in talking with my mother-in-law, who denies she has dementia, about her memory lapses and difficulty with household chores. He explained all the paperwork in detail and dealt directly with the long term care insurance company, to make the process as simple as possible for us. He also made a point of telling us that, if the person he sent us wasn’t the right fit, he would do whatever it took to find us the help we needed. In just a few days he sent us a well-qualified candidate, who was calm, competent, and caring. She started the next weekend and has been working with my in-laws ever since. Meanwhile Kevin has continued to be completely responsive to any questions or concerns we have. It’s such peace of mind when you finally find the right home health caretaker, and an agency you can rely on, like Synergy. Beth G.
A serious illness is something no family is ready for. This year, our family experienced this with my 87 year old Mother. She was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in the rectum. As her health surrogate, advocate and eldest child, I had a tough road ahead. I wanted the best for Mom. After the second week of treatment, we were looking at a week’s stay in the hospital with severe loss of limb movement, a blood transfusion and many other obstacles. I did my research because when Mom went home, she would need assistance with dressing, bathing and every day functions. I found a wonderful company by the name of Synergy Homecare. I made an appointment for Kevin Sobolewksi, the owner, to visit my sister and I at the hospital before Mom was even released. We felt a connection with Kevin. He was empathetic and spotted our needs quite rapidly. Mom’s first day at home was on October 5 was soon followed by a personal introduction to Kerry by Kevin. Kerry is a Certified Nurse Assistant and was going to take care of Mom. We loved Kerry from day one. She is respectful, trustworthy, empathetic and quite loving. She proceeded to build a bond with Mom. They get along very well. Kerry worked with Mom for six weeks until she was strong enough to do her every day needs by herself. Treatment is not over for Mom and are ready to reach out to Kevin should the need arise once more. We are very happy with the service provided by Kevin and the Synergy Homecare team and would highly recommend him to those who are in need of care for a family member or friend. Wilda B
