A. SYNERGY HomeCare is locally and family owned and operated! SYNERGY HomeCare is a non-medical home care dedicated to providing exceptional and affordable service to anyone of any age. SYNERGY HomeCare caregivers are available 24/7, every day of the year, to those in need – including seniors, expectant mothers, veterans, those suffering from sports injuries, debilitating illnesses, and more.

Q. What services does SYNERGY HomeCare provide?

A. SYNERGY HomeCare provides a wide range of non-medical services, from companionship, homemaker, and personal care, to meal preparation, transportation, and help coordinating medical appointments. We offer both short-term and long-term care.

Q. Who does SYNERGY HomeCare serve?

A. SYNERGY HomeCare provides services to people of all ages, including seniors, expectant mothers, new mothers, sick children, veterans, and those afflicted with debilitating conditions or illnesses.

Q. Does SYNERGY care for people in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities?

A. Yes, we provide services wherever you need us. In our experience, facilities welcome additional help to keep their residents safe and happy because they don’t always have resources or staff to support 1:1 care.

Q. What happens if a client is admitted to a hospital or other care facility?

A. We will continue to provide the services according the client’s wishes. SYNERGY caregivers are accustomed to working with clients in care facilities. 

Q. Is Medicare or Medicaid funding available for these services?

A. Today, Medicare does not cover non-medical home care services. The exception to this is when a patient is eligible for Home Health Care (skilled nursing), continues to meet those criteria, and the home care services are provided by the Medicare certified Home Health Agency; there is a limit to how much home care will be covered. Medicaid offers some coverage to eligible Medicaid recipients. In this case the agency used must be a certified Medicaid provider.

Q. Will SYNERGY HomeCare examine my insurance benefits to verify coverage prior to starting services?

A. Yes. SYNERGY HomeCare is accustomed to working with insurance companies. With your approval, we will check your insurance benefits and let you know if home care services are covered.  Some clients have what is known as Long Term Care insurance. This type of insurance is structured to provide coverage for our services.

Q. How much does home care usually cost?

A. The cost of non-medical care depends on where you live and the type and amount of care you need. In general, the cost of home care is more affordable than one might think. It is best first to consider the number of hours you need per week. Our free online needs assessment can help you determine how much time you might require.

Q. Do I have to sign a contract for services?

A. No. We are guided by a “No contracts, Just Care” philosophy. We understand that clients’ needs sometimes change. So we are committed to providing services that meet evolving requirements.

Q. How often will I be billed for services?

A. We typically process bills weekly. However, we can work with clients to accommodate different billing frequencies.

Q. What are the credentials of caregivers?

A. All of our caregivers go through an exhaustive reference and national criminal background check. Many of our caregivers have multiple years of experience in patient care and expertise in the certain areas, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and cancer patient care. All are certified in CPR and First Aid. SYNERGY caregivers are bonded and insured employees.

Q. How are caregivers assigned to clients?

A. We match clients’ specific needs, personalities, and requests to the skills and expertise of caregivers to find the right fit.

Q. How quickly can caregivers be assigned?

A. We can provide a caregiver immediately.  Typically we can start service in 2-3 days. In emergency situations we can start care in just a few hours.

Q. What if a caregiver is unable to work on a given day?

A. Using our network of qualified SYNERGY caregivers, we will find an appropriate replacement right away.

Q. Can I help choose the caregiver and/or conduct an interview in advance?

A. Yes. SYNERGY HomeCare will happily arrange a meeting with a preselected caregiver. Clients are free to request a different caregiver for any reason at any time.

Q. What should I be looking for in a non-medical home care agency?

A. The best in-home care agencies respond immediately to your home care needs.

  • They should have someone available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • They should guarantee that services will always be provided.
  • Their employees should be bonded against theft.
  • The attendants should be company employees, not contract employees. They should screen their employees and have national criminal background checks run on each of them.
  • No one should ever show up at your home without an introduction and agency identification.
  • They should provide periodic visits to your home in order to check on their employee and to make sure that you are happy with the services you’re receiving.

A. C.A.R.E. stands for Coordinated and Responsive Engagement. It describes SYNERGY’s unique approach to providing care. We go above and beyond providing just home care.   • First, we coordinate with providers and family members to understand our clients’ unique care needs and wishes. We can be a care resource, a care coordinator and a care advocate, which means we have the flexibility and know-how to ensure our clients’ continued wellbeing. We closely observe our clients on each visit, gathering valuable insight into how they are feeling and how we might further enhance their quality of life. In the spirit of coordination, we always share our observations and insights with family members and other loved ones.
  • Then we respond by incorporating insights about our clients into the services we provide them each day. Our responsiveness is also evident in our promise always to be there for clients. You can reach us any time, day or night, and know that we are available to help you. Similarly, if your loved one’s health changes suddenly, we will alert you immediately.
  • Finally, we proactively engage family members, medical providers and clients throughout our working relationship through regular communications, satisfaction surveys and in-person quality care visits from a SYNERGY team member. There is nothing more important than caring for another person. We take our job and the accompanying responsibility very seriously, which is why we are committed to working with clients and their loved ones every step of the way.

Q. Why would I hire a SYNERGY HomeCare caregiver versus a private caregiver for my family?

A. If you hire privately, you become the employer of the caregiver. The following are just a few of the things you must take into consideration when hiring privately.

  • Once you hire a caregiver privately, you are responsible for all state and federal payroll taxes.
  • You must obtain Workers Compensation Insurance or make sure your private caregiver comes with insurance. If not, you could be responsible for any injuries claimed to have happened while working at your home.
  • What happens if the private caregiver doesn’t show up for work? Are you prepared to stay home and take care of your loved one? If the care is for you, are you prepared to be left alone without care if the caregiver does not show up?
  • Are you capable of running a comprehensive, national criminal background check?
  • Is the private caregiver bonded against theft?
  • Who will supervise him/her?
