Latest Scam

Become proactive by learning about the latest scams that the FTC wants consumers be aware of. The elderly always seems to be targeted. The elderly are afraid of losing their medicare benefits. With all the conversation with the government health care changes, it's hard for them to keep up.  It doesn't take very much to have someone convince an elderly person that they are looking out for their welfare, when in fact they only want to take advantage of them and take their money.

Recently the FTC charged AFD Medical Advisiors with a telemarketing scam, that targeted the unaware senior. They allegedly would call an unaware senior and convinced them that they had to pay $299.00 for the YourRX card or the RXrelief card which is a prescription benefit that was suppose to give the seniors huge discounts on their prescription drugs. This company made the claim that they were affiliated with Medicare, Social Security and other insurance companies.  So the senior would believe that they had to infact dish out $299.00 for these cards when in fact they are free to anyone on the internet.  AFD Medical Advisiors led them (the senior) to believe that they would lose their existing insurance benefit if they did not purchase these cards. You can go to Discount Plan or Healh Insurance to read more about medical discount plans.

With a Healthcare provider like SYNERGY HomeCare of Glen Ellyn, our caregivers can question any type of telemarketing calls to the senior they are caring for.  They then can let the family know what is happening.  Call your Synergy of Glen Ellyn, and help keep your loved one safe, and provide companionship and help with meals and so much more.  SYNERGY HomeCare of Glen Ellyn,  630-517-0068.
