" A simple act of kindness can help someone through even the most trying of times.”
Vicki and Dave Dunnigan – Owners
Vicki and Dave Dunnigan purchased SYNERGY HomeCare in 2010. They have been married nearly 40 years and have four grown children and one grandchild.
Previously, Vicki worked for three years at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home in St. Paul helping patients nearing the end of their lives. She then became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and took a job at North Memorial Residential Hospice House in Brooklyn Center. For 15 years she provided attentive and continuous care to patients, ordered medical supplies and coordinated volunteers.
“My work in hospice was especially educational,” said Vicki. “I learned about the beauty of life and the heartbreak of death. But I also learned about the enormous impact that compassionate, dedicated care can bring to an entire family. A simple act of kindness can help someone through even the most trying of times.”
That knowledge has guided Vicki’s work at SYNERGY, where she still often works as a caregiver herself and makes a point to visit every client once a week.
It’s no surprise that on more than one occasion, families have approached Vicki with thanks, saying, “We knew you were here for Mom today because her hair is curled and her makeup is done.”
“Caregiving is my passion,” said Vicki. “I want so much to brighten people’s lives, to help them overcome obstacles and enjoy life to the fullest. My clients really are like family to me and I like to think they feel the same way about me.”
