SYNERGY was part of a “Healthy Aging® Conference" recently at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, which included several in home care companies in Oklahoma City.
Healthy Aging® Month is an annual observance month in September designed to focus national attention on the positive aspects of growing older.
The mission of Healthy Aging® Month is to encourage local-level events that promote taking personal responsibility for one’s health, be it physically, socially, mentally or financially. St. John’s took the lead in offering help to the Oklahoma City senior day care population.
Shannon Rich-Romero, SYNERGY marketing director, was on hand for any questions.
“There are so many precious lives confused and desperate for help. They don't know where to turn. Being able to give assistance is the way the world is supposed to work,” said Rich-Romero.
“At the conference, there was a room full of people who have a heart for others. We are grateful SYNERGY was a part of that -- working together for the good of each other.” That is the spirit we promote at SYNERGY HomeCare.”
Activities at the conference included blood pressure checks, glucose screening, a Tai Chi demonstration by the Central Center of Healthy Aging and an Arthritis seminar by Angel Jackson, program director for The Arthritis Foundation. We thank these Oklahoma City elder care groups for providing valuable information for those who attended.
Active Aging Week, sponsored by the International Council on Active Aging
(http://www.icaa.cc/aaw.htm) is the week of Sept. 22.
The conference was sponsored by St. John’s and the Social Service Commission.
Shannon Rich-Romero with SYNERGY helped guide visitors to the recent Healthy Aging® Conference through any caregiving questions they had.
