Every family considering in-home care through SYNERGY HomeCare is entitled to a complimentary needs assessment. These needs assessments are performed by experienced professionals who understand the struggles both seniors and their families have with the idea of reaching out to an outside party for day-to-day in-home assistance. We’ve developed a comprehensive checklist that enables us to assess your family member’s ability to easily and safely remain at home alone.
This checklist consists of everyday activities your loved one would likely need to perform daily or weekly, such as doing laundry or driving. We review their ability to perform it without assistance, with assistance or not at all.
We’ve carefully developed this assessment as a tool not just to help families understand their loved one’s ability to maintain independence, but also so your family member can see in clear terms how important some additional care may be to their continued wellbeing.
Our professionals have extensive experience within the in-home caregiving industry, and they understand how resistant some people can be to the idea of requiring a little extra assistance to remain safely living at home. Sometimes being able to put a number to their daily struggles can be a powerful tool in changing their minds.
What are some of the activities we assess?
- Able to perform chores in the house or yard
- Able to do laundry or household chores
- Able to request assistance or call for help in an emergency
- Able to grocery shop or prepare/arrange meals
- Able to feed self
- Capable of personal grooming
- Able to make and keep appointments
- Able to manage medications
Your in-home needs assessment provider will discuss what your family member’s assessment indicates according to our internal standards and explain all your potential care options. There are many resources available in your community ranging from adult day care and home care to assisted living and memory care facilities, and we’re dedicated to giving you unbiased advice regarding what’s in the best interest of your loved one.
If you suspect a family member needs some extra assistance to continue living on their own, contact SYNERGY HomeCare’s local McKees Rocks location today. We would be happy to schedule a complimentary, no-obligation in-home needs assessment and discuss ways in which our in-home caregivers may be able to help your loved one remain healthy and safe at home.
