SYNERGY HomeCare is proud to be a runner-up in the Elder Care category of the Shepherd Express' annual Best of Milwaukee 2017 competition!

“We are very proud to receive this honor from the readers of the Shepherd Express. We continue to work very hard at providing quality care and service to the residents of southeastern Wisconsin who choose to remain safe and independent as long as possible in their homes, wherever home may be. This recognition validates for us the importance of the service we provide and the peace of mind we provide families.” - Ruth Busalacchi, owner/president, SYNERGY HomeCare,

According to the Shepherd Express, this competition is the “largest as ranked by number of voters, and most of all, for the value that winning or being nominated brings to local people, businesses and organizations… also serves as a unique guide to the best the city has to offer…”

Congratulations to fellow runner-up, Ovation Communities, and to the Elder Care winner, Howard Village!

SYNERGY HomeCare Caregivers Provide Cold Weather Companionship!

Fox 6 Milwaukee

It's another cold winter, similar to the winter of 2014 when the polar vortex brought with it a lot of complications for seniors. That year, after two seniors passed away due to the harsh weather, Fox 6 contacted SYNERGY HomeCare to spotlight how having someone physically stop in to check on a senior loved one, friend or neighbor can make all the difference. Please take a look at the following cold weather stories that appeared on Fox 6.

Ruth Busalacchi, Owner, SYNERGY HomeCare, was interviewed January 2, 2018, by Telemundo Wisconsin regarding SYNERGY HomeCare's services and the importance of stopping in to check on seniors.  For our Spanish-speaking friends, please take a look at that interview.

As a Cold Weather Companion, it's important to check:

  • that the furnace is working and what the temperature is in the senior's house/apartment
  • that the senior has food
  • that the senior has needed medications

If they need food or medications, pick those things up for them, or if they insist upon going themselves, go along with them. If they have a medical appointment, be their cold weather companion and go with them.

SYNERGY HomeCare Offering CNA Grant

“We know ongoing education and training not only improve the quality of care we provide our clients,” according to Ruth Busalacchi, owner, SYNERGY HomeCare, “they contribute to the success of our caregivers and their job satisfaction.”

Our caregivers are not required by law to be CNA certified. Approximately 60% of SYNERGY HomeCare's caregivers are CNA certified. Caregivers who are not certified and who have been employed with SYNERGY HomeCare for at least a year are now eligible to apply for a tuition grant to attend CNA training. Applicants are required to write an essay including why they are applying for the grant, how they will use the knowledge they gain, and why they should be awarded the grant. The grant recipient will, among other things, be expected to continue employment for at least two years. The grant is awarded annually.

Senior Scams: It’s OK to Hang Up

“It’s OK to hang up”, was Bob’s response when asked what he learned after SYNERGY HomeCare presented a senior scams program at his independent living community in Greenfield, WI. That is a popular response from seniors at other communities and senior centers where the program has been offered.

Seniors don’t want to be rude and they fear the repercussions of hanging up. That’s what scammers count on. The longer they can keep you on the phone, the greater the likelihood is they’ll get you to share personal and financial information.

To learn more about senior scams, including the IRS Scam and the Grandparents Scam, and to schedule a presentation, contact Enid at 414-763-8368.

“I can’t wait to share this information with my friends,” said Lorrie after a presentation at her senior center. “They need to know about the Grandparent’s Scam and that they shouldn’t open suspicious emails with links and attachments.”
