Local Couple Open Second Synergy HomeCare Office in State, Obtain SeniorChecked and Senior Shield Certification

With 76 million baby boomers fueling the aging population, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports that the home health care industry is expected to increase by more than 55 percent between 2002 and 2012. Synergy HomeCareis paving the way for this rising industry, which is why local residents Ron and Judy Ponder have opened South Carolina’s second Synergy HomeCare office at 2460 India Hook Road on November 15th. The Ponders’ Synergy office is also the first home care agency in the state to pass the SeniorCheckedsm evaluation process and become certified under South Carolina’s Senior Shield program, a system where ethical business practices are clearly defined, identified and supported to eliminate senior fraud.

Originally from Texas, the Ponders have moved around the country in work related transfers for the past 30 years – Ron for marketing, IT and sales and Judy as executive assistant – calling the Carolinas home for the past 10 years - but after Ron lost his job last year, they elected to move from their home in Gastonia back to Oklahoma to help Ron’s aging parents. However, when his parents refused their assistance, the couple followed their hearts back to their home in the Carolinas to plan the next step in their careers. Ron had always toyed with the idea of opening a business and, knowing the time to pursue that dream was upon him, contacted a franchise consultant to explore his options. Ron was immediately drawn to Synergy’s quality care, customer service and the niche services it would provide throughout Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York and Clover as well as surrounding communities.

“It was important to both Judy and me that the business we selected would not only provide a true service to the community but help better the lives of others as well and Synergy does just that,” said Ron. “This is a business that we hope to grow well into the future and help as many people as possible along the way.” In addition to working side-by-side as husband and wife, the Ponders’ daughter, Jaimee, will join the Synergy team as their registered nurse on staff assisting with education and training – making this business a true family affair.

Founded in 2002 by Peter Tourian, Gilbert, Arizona-based Synergy HomeCare provides high-quality, non-medical home care to people in their homes. Potential clients can call any time of the day or night to request a caregiver and Synergy HomeCare responds.Unlike other home care providers Synergy HomeCare does not limit its services to seniors and provides high-quality, non-medical home care to people of all ages in the comfort of their own homes. Caregivers are available on an hourly, daily, weekly or 24/7 basis, 365 days per year to seniors, the convalescing, adults injured on the job, expectant mothers, those recovering from injuring, the disabled and anyone who needs help with daily activities. With nearly 50 locations already operating across the country and an expected 300 more within the next five years, Synergy HomeCare is targeting a more aggressive growth, with further expansion throughout South Carolina by openingthree additional offices in the state by the end of 2010; the company’s existing South Carolina location is at 2215-B Platt Springs Road in West Columbia. Though they are still relatively new to the industry, Ron and Judy are already looking toward a bright future with Synergy: The couple hopes to expand their operation into North Carolina over the next few years to offer more individuals Synergy’s unmatched services.

“It’s difficult for many people to find the time to balance their own personal needs and the needs of someone else; what we offer through Synergy is unparalleled care exactly when it’s needed most,” said Ron. “It’s our goal to make Synergy the provider that comes to mind when care is needed. Our standards are extremely high and we will do whatever it takes to match every client with a caregiver that will not only meet but exceed their needs.”
